FLORIDA

March 7th, 2003.

Today is Michelle's 35th birthday.  We are now in Florida.  The ride here was really nice, we chased a storm and followed the sun to our new resort for the next week.  It is a warm 70+ degree, sunny day.  The resort is located on the Econfina River. They tell us it is one of Florida's premier fishing spots. The road leading into the resort was very narrow, through the swamps. There is not much to do here except fish. Friday and Saturday was nice, While on Sunday early morning we had some severe thunder storms.  The kids are enjoying catching fish with there nets. We even have seen a few alligators. They say were we are you can find deer, wild pigs, and bobcats, not to mention the gators.  Sunday afternoon turned out to be really nice.  The next few days are supposed to be in the high 70's, maybe low 80's.

We spent most of our time here in the R.V. because of the noseeum bugs.  They were bruttle. We did venture out to town a few times, which was 24 miles away.  One of the days here we drove to what was listed as a beach.  It ended up to be more like a marina.  The beach was about as big as Leominster State Forest, On the Gulf Coast line.  On the way home we stopped at McDonalds and meet some really nice people from the area.  A woman named Lisa was there with her two twin sons and mother.  Zakary liked playing with the younger boys.  We talked with them out in the parking lot and the kids were very generous with there toys and beads from Mardi Gras.

Another day while in town we stopped at a playground and handed out a bunch of beads and things to the local kids.  The all very much enjoyed them. It made Michelle and I realize how giving the kids are. While here in Econfina we helped out Another lady with some computer problems.  We also meet up for one night with Elaine and her dog Meg.  It will be sad to not meet up with them until sometime in the future.  We really enjoyed spending time with Elaine. I believe we ended up in four of the last resorts together at some point, while there.

Friday morning at last! We are out of the swamps. Yahoo !! Onward to our next destination. We had a 90 minute drive after a stop in town to pick up a package from my mom.  She sent us a ton of new clothes for the kids. She didn't want them to freeze when we get back to Massachusetts. She even sent along winter jackets. Thank you mom, the kids love all the stuff. They did a show for us while driving down route ten, trying on everything. We probably will never return to this area, to far from civilization.

Friday March 14

We are now closer to the East coast. The resort is called The Spirit of Suwannee  Music Park and Campground.  Yes, it's located on the Suwannee River. The place is huge. Probably the biggest resort so far with over 700 sites.  All year long they host music concerts and fairs. They have a neat cabin located in a tree, appropriately called the Tree House. They also have a crafters village were people sell there goods. There is horseback riding available, Golf cart rental, full service restaurant, 750 seat theater, multiple playgrounds, mini golf and much more. All this is located just 4 miles from the main town called Live Oak.  We have free cable television but still no internet access. Our cell phone gets bad reception here too.  What's up with Florida? Guess they are still behind with services for the traveling public. AOL doesn't even have a local access number.

Sunday 3/16

The last few days here have been nice. We found the local library to at least read the email, and send a few.  We found a Assembly of God close by also. A little different way of preaching but the message was good and heard. We thought the Minister at one point was going to have a heart attack. All is good though in the presents of our Lord. Sunday night we had a nice campfire after dinner. 

 Our next few stops will be in South Carolina, Hilton Head Island and Myrtle Beach.  After those stops we head into Virginia, then to my Aunt Donna's home in Glen Burnie, Maryland.  After that we head home, for a little while before hitting the road again.  It will be nice to see some family and friends.

We got some good news about our taxes, and that will give enough to travel for at least another year with other work that will be available over the summer and fall.  So far it still looks like we will spend the summer in South Dakota and the fall in Tennessee. It's all up to God, we are just waiting to see where we are led.

This morning as we were just about to head out towards Georgia the RV STOPPED RUNNING.  After a call to the Good Sam, triple A for RVs, some nice guy came to help us out.  The ignition switch burnt out. Why? Only God knows.  But we guess we were'nt supposed to leave as planned.  After a two hour delay, and a new switch we started out and made it into Georgia with out a problem.

This resort we are leaving is nice and hopefully we will be back sometime next year.  We had some fun and good times here. Michelle and I did some power walking. By the time we leave here we will probably be up to a few miles of walking daily.  We are getting FAT!
