MONTANA

Original source: MONTANA.htm

This was a travel through state, with a stop over in a Wal-Mart.  We left South Dakota around 11 a.m., Monday morning 8/12.  We drove about 450 miles before our stop over.  We drove route 212 out of South Dakota to route 90 around Billings Montana.  We ate dinner at a Perkins restaurant in Billings, before hitting the road again.  Our destination was Bozeman Montana for the night.  The next morning we headed for the West gate of Yellowstone.  We made camp in Island Park Idaho, which is only 13 miles from the West gate.  Montana had some beautiful landscape.  We spotted real Indian teepee's and cowboys riding horses.  Some will ask why didn't you just stay on route 90 to Cody Wyoming, East gate to Yellowstone.  To answer that we couldn't find a campsite for the money we wanted to spend.  And Idaho was next to go to after Yellowstone, so we took the long way and saw part of Montana at the same time.  Even though it was a long ride the kids were great, and didn't complain at all. After all we did sit in South Dakota for 10 days.  So we are now in Idaho and we are going back into Wyoming 13 miles away to do Yellowstone.  look for our story about our time spent there on our Wyoming page.
