7/21 It's been awhile since I updated this site, I'll try to remember all that we've done. We arrived in Wisconsin on Sunday morning. We are now in Mukwonago, It's about 30 miles south west of Milwaukee. We met up with my parents at John and Sherry's house later that afternoon. We basically hung out there and met a few people while we were there. Later that evening we took a trip to see Lake Michigan. It was a beautiful site to see. The airport was close to us, and the planes flew right over our heads, (well close by) as they were coming in. That also was a cool site to see. Later that evening we went into Milwaukee to see some fireworks. We sat at the yacht club and watched them over the bay. It was a really good show, and gave Boston's 4th of July's a run for the money. 7/22 On Monday we went over Sherry's brother Jim's house. Jim and his wife Kathy along with their 3 girls live on a lake. The girls are all really cute blondes. Their ages and names are Teresa 10, Melissa 6, and Jessica 5. Sherry had been watching the girls for a few days because Kathy was in the hospital. Any way we all went up to the lake to go jet skiing. It was Sherry's toy. The kids really like it and uncle john gave all the kids a ride. I waited patiently until it was my turn. I had a blast, Michelle wouldn't go on because it was lake water. It was a really cool ride. Doing 60mph. on water is really fast. Later in the day Zakary and I were on it, and I let him drive. He loved it up to the point when he hit a wave and dumped us off into the water. After that there was no crazy driving for him. I let Teresa drive also and she ended up sending us in the water too. We all enjoyed Sherry's jet ski. My mom and dad were there also. It was good seeing them before they headed back to Massachusetts. Mom was sad, because she knew they won't be seeing us again until Christmas. 7/23 Today we went to Six Flags Great America, in Gurnee, Illinois. It's only about 30 minutes from the campsite. It took forever to get in and it was a very busy place. The system they used to buy tickets and to get in was awful. We waited for 40 minutes to get in. After my brother dropped my parents off at the airport He along with Sherry and Teresa met up with us. Nikole experienced a few new rides. We rode American Eagle a old wooden roller coaster that raced another car on a different track. You could do it forward or backwards. We did it facing backwards. Fiddler's fling was a cool ride we've never seen. It was kind of like the Scrambler and Tea Cups all in one. Nikole also went on Giant Drop, It's like scream back home. The one here is a 200 foot drop. Then she rode Demon a steel coaster with corkscrews and loops, that went through tunnels. Other than that the rest of the rides she has already been on. Michelle and I got to go on 2 new coasters, Raging Bull, and Vertical Velocity, which was like the superman back in Ohio. Both of those ride were fun and worth the wait. They had another Foam Factory here for the kids. Sherry and I went in, it was her first time. We were like little kids in there shooting balls at the parents, and unsuspecting kids. It was fun, and I think she enjoyed it too. We stayed until closing time and ended the day with all of us riding the Whizzer, a ride that was kind of like a old Wild Cat coaster. 7/24 Today Michelle played tennis with my brother, he kicked her butt. He is a lot better than how he used play. He is even in a league and plays weekly. So Michelle went to Milwaukee to play him and came back to the campsite with him. I stayed behind and did the laundry and went swimming with the kids. This place is really nice. And we are supposed to be leaving on Thursday, but I don't think we will. If we stay we will have to move our site. The site we are at has full hook ups and it is taken for the weekend. They will give a site with water and electric, we just loose the sewer. Later in the evening, we went back to Milwaukee and had dinner at John's. He is a real good cook, and if we ever own a campground we would ask him to be our full time chef. After dinner he had a tennis match. He won that game too. Michelle and Sherry and I took the kids across the street to the beach at Lake Michigan. The kids had a blast playing in the water. Afterwards John gave us all a tour of where he works. I really enjoyed that, and I think everyone else did too. On the way back home we stopped for a ice-cream cone. It turned out to be at a little place Bill Clinton stopped at while he was in town once. What we thought was soft serve ice-cream turned out to be frozen custard. It was the best ice-cream we have ever eaten. What a way to end the day. 7/25 Well we decided to stay until Monday here in Wisconsin. We moved our site into the woods. It's one of the best sites on the property. They say a lot of people request this spot. We can see why. At first we didn't think we could get into it, but we had no problems. I did have to take a trip to a R.V. store to buy a extension cable for the power, we really needed it anyway. The cost of it was a lot cheaper than expected also. We actually are doing really good with our budget, and we have stored up some of that extra daily cash. We are planning on buying a 13 inch television for the bedroom. We have more than $100.00 stored up so far, so that purchase may happen soon. My brother came out to the campground to see us, and to challenge Michelle to another tennis match. Guess who won? Maybe I can even beat her. After John left we all headed for the pool. We had a great meal with some local grown sweet corn. Then we went to find some more of that frozen custard. After when we returned to the campsite we sat around a fire before heading to bed. Later in the evening we encountered our first real rain storm. We have never seen so much lightening. It actually scared me it was so intense. It rained out really hard too. Lightening struck a electrical transformer at the campground. It was so close, you could almost feel it when it hit. It woke the kids up, and we all sat , prayed and watch as it passed over us. It struck at about 1:30 in the morning so being without power was no big thing. 7/26 Today we drove into Milwaukee to meet up with John. We went on a brewery tour at the Miller Plant. It was amazing thing to see the beer made, bottled and packaged. They even gave out free samples at the end of the tour, 3 different beers each to everyone that wanted them. The kids got to sample root beer. We had a really good time there. Later after the tour of Miller, we went to the new Miller Field to see a baseball game. It was the first time for the kids to see a game in person. Sherry and Teresa met up with us in the parking lot, after she got out of work. We tail gated before game time and ate some Brats before heading in. The tickets were only $5.00 . The kids had a great time. There were a few Homeruns hit and a Grand Slam. We got to see their mascot slide down the slide that was connected to his dugout. He was perched up high above left field. We ended up changing our seats to get a better view. We all got free Brewers hats. Michelle, John and I got free Baseball jerseys for applying for a credit card. We all had a blast at the Old Ball Game. 7/27 Today we hung around the campground, did some laundry and went swimming. Later in the evening John Sherry and Teresa came over to see the r.v. before we hit the road. We had steaks on the grill, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. The kids went swimming before and after the meal. We had some wood delivered to us and sat around the campfire talking all night. We really like Sherry and feel she will be good for John. It's about time he settles down. 7/28 Well this will be our last day here at this campground. It's to bad we are heading out. This morning we went to service. It was at New life Community Church in Mukwonago WI. It is a Assembly of God Church and it felt like home. The Pastor Gene Berres was great. His message hit home, and it seemed like it was meant for me. It was great just being in the house of our Lord again. When we got back we all went for a swim. After we ate some lunch, sat around and did much of nothing. It's going to be kind of hard to leave this area. I really like this town, and it seems like a nice place to live. We have had a lot of fun and good times here, and we all really liked the church. But all good things must come to a end and we have to pack up and leave. We are heading into Minnesota. We were going to just drive through. But now we are heading to Bloomington. That's where The Mall of America is. They say it's something exciting to experience, I'll let you know. And to think I extreme dislike the mall. After that we are heading to South Dakota. We have to get there soon Sturgis Bike Week starts the 5th of August, and there won't be a place to sleep for 100 miles surrounding it. |
