2003 JANUARY   FEBRUARY  MARCH  APRIL  MAY

April 24, 2003

Time has gone by.  We have been back in Massachusetts since April 2.  Since we've been back it's been cold, snowy and rainy.  Not the weather we were looking forward to that's for sure.  Everyone here is really sick of it too.  We have heard from everyone that this was the worst winter.  We were blessed to leave.

Our time with Aunt Donna was terrific.  The kids fell in love with her and didn't want to leave.  She was so nice to all of us.  Ron and I enjoyed our stay so much.  Her home was so comfortable and she was so sweet we didn't want to leave either.  In fact we kidded about putting in a cement pad in the lot next to her and moving in.  She was all for it.  Zakary really fell in love with her.  He was sad when we left.  It's nice to know that she is on the way back down south.

We paid dearly in tolls on the ride home.  It cost over $50.00.  We even avoided some of the tolls by going through Philadelphia.  Once we got past New Jersey the roads were horrible.  We have forgotten how damaged the roads are here.  We won't come home on 95 again.  It cost us $18.00 to go over the Washington Bridge and have the front end hammered by the pot holes.

It was 4 am when we got into town so the first place we visited was the gas station.  Bud was there and it was nice to see a familiar face.  Even though that face noticed that we put on weight.  In fact that was the first statement we heard out of our family too.  We noticed that a lot of people here have lost a lot of weight.  They all look pale and thin.  It's the long winter full of shoveling.  It was brutally cold too they said.  Yes, I guess it's true we put on weight.  But we also had killer tans maybe that's why they gave us such a hard time.

Since we've been back Ron has been hard at work for all our relatives.  He has replaced door knobs at my moms and his.  He put in shelf organizers for his mom. We've been doing yard work at both Mary's and mom's.  Now he has a job to do for his Aunt Linda.  It's really great to be able to help people out.  It's strange though.  We set out to help people on the road.  It turned out that most people helped us.  (Although Ron did help people with their computers.)  Then we get home and it seems as if all we are doing is working for our families.  I have cleaned houses, done yard work, and watched children.  It's been fun to be involved again.

Being back at the church has been the highlight of being home.  Being there with our brothers and sisters and absorbing the love of God has made the trip home worth it.  The kids were happy to be back.  We were even able to include my nephews.  They are in need of prayer.  That whole family.  We are trying to be examples and are praying.  Tonight I was convicted in the bible study.  It was the story of the rich man and Lazarus.  Pastor Dave was saying that God didn't want the rich man to travel far away or feed hundreds of people He just wanted the rich man to notice and care for one man who was laid at his door everyday.  It sort of showed me that there is a need in my own family and I have been blind to it.  It requires more prayer and boldness.

The kids are really happy to be back with the family.  They missed their Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.  We have been on the go since we've gotten home.  It's fun visiting everyone, but we know that this is not the place we want to live.  We have seen too much and had too many wonderful experiences.  It's nice to have Christian people be open about their beliefs.  It's nice to hear Christian FM Radio stations.  See billboards promote God's word and the love of Jesus.  To know that being bold for God is the norm.  Combine that with better weather and I long to be free of this area.  I will miss all the people here and I hope they visit us.  But I know that this is not the place for me.
