2002 January to July July August September October November December 2003 JANUARY FEBRUARY March APRIL MAY JUNE JULY '03 June 6, We put a deposit on a house today. I have incredible peace about the whole deal. It's just another testimony of God's provision for our lives. We walking into this about a week ago. We met with the sales man on Monday. Wednesday we proposed to have Ron finish the upstairs of a model house that is already on site. We also picked a lot for a house for us to finish and resell at a profit God willing. Today we finalized the details and put some money down. By the end of the conversation Mr. Rich is 99% sure that Ron will get the job to finish the house and we will be able to live on site while our house is being ordered and set up. We are purchasing a 4 bedroom 3 bath true modular cape. It will have a front porch and 2 dormers. There are a few things I'm not too happy with the kitchen but I won't be living in it. Our plans are to finish the upstairs and put it back on the market at a higher price. The lot is also big enough to put up a garage too. This way it will let Ron work for himself and we will be investing in property. Sort of starting two businesses at the same time. Meanwhile we are looking at another house that needs cleaning, cosmetics and a little window addition. If we can get it for the right price we'll live in that until it sells at a price that will give us a profit. We are praising God for all the doors He is opening before us. I know that He is working in our lives. Even if this all falls through I will praise Him. I know that He is in charge and I want only to please Him. Life is changing dramatically again for us. We may even have a buyer for our motor home. That would free up a good portion of disposable cash too. Right now as I'm typing this there is a preacher on TV who is reminding us that there is a danger of prosperity. That we must remember that it is God who is giving all of this. We can't forget that it all comes from God and that seeking His kingdom first is the most important thing in being prosperous. I really like this guy. He seems to have the same view on God's word that I do. It is so nice to have Christian programming and radio stations. It really makes a difference to listen to praise music when driving around. It brings more peace to all of us. Our thoughts are centered on God and His ways. I love telling Him how much I love Him. It never gets old. I still get tears when I think of what Jesus did for me. It's so personal. You know He did the same thing for you too. June 13, When God moves He moves at the speed of light! I can't believe how fast our lives are beginning here in South Carolina. In a matter of two weeks we have accepted bids on two houses and we have the opportunity to buy a third, which will be leased for a year by the developer of the subdivision. Now all we have to do is convince the banks to finance all the deals and go to 3 closings and we'll be on our way. Today we received and accepted bid on a foreclosure house. We will be buying it for $93,000. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage single family home with 1400 square feet of heated living space. It also has the largest yard we've looked at yet. The rugs and interior need desperate help so there will be expenses but overall we've got a deal. Even the realtor is surprised at how smoothly it's going so far. We have asked to have possession of the property ASAP so we can start repairs. We'll find out Monday or so. It will be nice to get to work on a project. Tonight we also got Ron started on his handyman company. We printed up flyers and business cards. From what we hear once the word gets out he will be busy. I'm just praising God for all of this. I just can't believe how it's all happened so fast. Our lives are beginning again here in South Carolina. It's really strange to fill out address forms. I have a hard time remembering the zip code. Next Monday the kids, who have been so good through all the house hunting and realtor office visits, will be going to morning classes at the local college. Nikole will be taking an art class and Zakary will be taking French. He was so cute about it. He said to me, "mom I already know a little French from Tom and Jerry....Bon jour pussycat!" We've been smiling all day thinking about it. I was looking at Zak's legs tonight. My goodness he's grown again. His legs are so long I bet none of his pants will fit him. It's ok though, we are not really wearing pants now anyway. It's much too hot and muggy for that. Our Northern blood is just not used to all this sun and warm weather. It's been in the high 80"s ever since we've been here and the humidity seems like it's at 99 percent. It's not but it feels that way sometimes. Our killer tans are back! We haven't been able to update this site or get access for a while. Thank God we can check mail at the library. It's been sort of trying not having an address or a local phone. We had to change our cell service too. We were using our minutes up too quickly with the other plan so in order to get more minutes I had to switch companies and buy a new phone. They also increased my contract time too. I wasn't too pleased with the whole arrangement but I also didn't want a $100.00 phone bill. So now we have a South Carolina phone number. Out here the area code isn't needed to dial. They still only use 7 numbers. It takes some getting used to. Well it's late and we have a busy day tomorrow. A new Lowe's opened up down the street. Ron went tool shopping tonight and bought just about everything he'll need to be "Handy Ron". Tomorrow we have to pick up all the stuff and bring it to the storage place we've rented. Work, work, work, I guess it's to be expected after taking all that time off. Life begins again at 35. Oh boy! June 16, Life is becoming a blur! The kids loved their summer classes today. Nikole hasn't stopped thanking me for enrolling her. She was actually on a creative role today. She made a beautiful picture tonight by cutting and pasting. It's amazing how much she enjoys that. I remember cutting thousands of paper snowflakes but that was about all I did. Nikole made a clock out of construction paper and a brad. Zakary also enjoyed his class however he didn't learn anything he said. They did get to use the computer to find the French flag. "It is also red, white, and blue but the pattern is different," he said. When we were walking out his teachers were behind us and he stopped to hold the door for them. He had such a funny look on his face. I think he likes them. They are two 19-20 pretty young things. I had to laugh at his expression. While we had the children in school Ron and I went to the bank to secure the loan and lock in the rate. We ended up getting a 80/20 loan which will require us to bring in no money at all. In fact we will be getting money back at closing. Now we are waiting for a request to be sent to the bank that we are purchasing the house from stating that we want possession of the property for repair purposes. Hopefully they will go for it. We need to get the power and water turned on. I'm not too sure about all the numbers that were flying around the office today. In fact I'm a little taken aback that she is willing to sell Ron all three houses we are looking at. I don't think we are going to put them all in his name but we'll see. It's times like these that I am so thankful that God goes before me to make the way smooth. It's very hard not to become overwhelmed and out think ourselves. I'm putting my faith in God. I know He will never leave me or forsake me. It will be great once Ron is able to start working. A few people have taken his card and have said they will call. If they do it will be great. He is also still working on the deal with the developer. In fact the developer is telling the bank that they will be employing Ron so he has a job with them. I just can't wait to get busy. That's why it would be so nice to get possession of the house. Then we will be doing something constructive. I am going to choose to be patient and enjoy this time. I'm sure I will be very busy in the next few years so I should just enjoy this while it's lasting. This is the calm before the storm. Speaking of storm we had a pretty good one today. There is a lot more lightning down here I think. There was no damage but it kept us looking out the window for a while. We can't really complain though it was a beautiful day for the most part. It never rains for the whole day here. If it rains in the am the sun comes out by 4. If it rains in the afternoon or night it's beautiful for most of the day. I can't recall one full day without seeing the sun at some point in that day. Much different from up north that's for sure. Oh I have also adopted the southern accent. It's so bad that Ron and the banker were poking fun at the way I was saying certain things. I wasn't even trying to sound Southern either so I must have picked it up. Well ya'll have a good night, hear! June 19, Ron is out tonight starting his first job as "Handy Ron." He was so excited to get started I didn't want to stop him. It's 8:15p.m. He's been gone for about 15 minutes now and it's already getting dark here. But that is because there is an ugly cloud moving in to darken the skies. It's one of the meanest looking clouds I've seen here. I do hope he's paying attention to it. Anyway Ron got his first job relocating mail boxes at Coral Crest. It won't pay much but it will pay so that is the important part. Ron also went to do a job quote for a man from the church. And he is going to another on tomorrow. Praise God for His provisions. We hope to hear from the bank on Monday as to weather or not we can take possession of our house. That will keep us busy all next week. And Ron has gotten hired to do the trim work for Watkins and Graham too. We are looking forward to the houses being put down. That will take about three weeks. We are trying to fill in the void. It will be nice to have money coming in again. Right now we do not have any major expenses so we'll be able to pay off all the tools Ron bought. God is so good to us. The storm is looking really mean now and I can hear the roll of thunder. I'm going to sign off before the lightning starts in earnest. June 25, Ron's business is really taking off. Right now he's on the job installing a fan. He's actually an hour late coming home. I'm not going to worry though. God has proven to me in this time that He is directing our steps. He is going before us. My faith is in Him. We are supposed to have written confirmation that we can take possession of the 960 Castlewood house. We jumped the gun yesterday and rolled up the disgusting carpet. It looks better in there already. It's amazing how stinky carpet can really turn a place bad. I am looking forward to bringing in the Rainbow. Once I get the air cleaned out it will be better to spend time there. We have a big paint job to get done as be are paining the whole house. It should look a lot better when that's done. It's nice not to have to worry about carpets or anything. The man who is installing the carpet and flooring measured yesterday. I called the electric company, water and telephone today. The power should be on now. Hopefully the air came on. it will be a good thing to dry out the house. It really didn't get that bad in there considering there is no air. We did find a crack in the foundation pretty much in the center of the house. We will patch it. It's to be expected though. Houses settle they say. There is also a little mold in the breakfast room. We will be going in with heavy duty bleach. Ron will have to replace the whole door frame but when it's done it will be perfect. We are really getting excited. Having only one vehicle is slowing us down some now though. There are so many things I think I could be doing. The kids are just as happy staying inside playing with Legos. We have a big paint job coming up the week after the fourth. I need to find some acceptable day care for them. I don't think the half day college classes will work. We'll spend too much time dropping off and picking up. I know God will provide. So we are very busy starting all over again.
